The Merseyside Police have released a statement after detaining the man who plowed into a crowd of Liverpool fans who were celebrating winning the Premier League title.

The statement from the police read, "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city center.

We were contacted at just after 6 pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.



We will issue more updates as we have them."

The statement followed helicopter footage that displayed an overhead view of the streets, first responders, and several medical vehicles navigating a compact area on Water Street.
