A man was killed in a crash days before he was due to travel to Liverpool.

Kian Broadhead, 25, died in the incident on a hairpin bend known as the Devil's Elbow, on the Isle of Man on Sunday September 14.

Police on the island said emergency services were called to the bend on the A4 Kirk Michael to Peel Coast Road at around 5.25pm, but Kian died at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Kian at this difficult time.”

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is now under way.

Kian was a huge Liverpool FC fan and had been due to travel to the city this weekend with his younger brother Charlie to watch the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.

The game kicks off at 12.30pm tomorrow.

His close family and friends are hoping fans at the game will join in a minute’s applause for Kian after 25 minutes.

He was a huge Liverpool fan and was meant to go to the derby on Saturday, as a present for his little brother Charlie.”

A post from the Official Isle of Man Liverpool supporters club earlier this week added: “Some very sad news from the weekend.

Kian Broadhead, a fellow Red, lost his life on Sunday in a tragic accident.

“For those of us who are there we intend to stand and applaud his memory after 25 minutes.
