Liverpool have been told to be prepared to spend heavily if they want to land one of their transfer targets.

The Reds are set for one of their busiest summer transfer windows in recent memory, with widespread reports indicating significant squad reinforcements as Arne Slot aims to build on their Premier League triumph.

The club’s hierarchy, determined to avoid the stagnation that followed their 2019/20 title, is reportedly ready to back Slot with substantial funds to fend off resurgent rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Premier League confirmed the summer transfer window will open briefly from June 1–10 (aligning with the FIFA Club World Cup) before resuming June 16–September 1.

This staggered timeline allows Liverpool to act swiftly in a market where key targets are already identified.

Several players are being linked with a summer switch to Anfield.

One of such players is Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

The Cameroonian has been one of the Bees’ best players in recent seasons, and he has taken his game to a new level this season, following the summer departure of Ivan Toney.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for him for some time now, and they could potentially consider signing him this summer, given that they are expected to be in the market for an attacker.

However, his manager, Thomas Frank, has warned Liverpool and every other club interested that the 25-year-old won’t come cheap.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Nottingham Forest, Frank conceded that they could sell Mbeumo this summer – for “the right price” – despite his formidable partnership upfront with striker Yoane Wissa.

“I’m the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever,” he said.

“I know Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford?

I’ve said many times, we are a selling club.

“If the right price, and that’s going to be expensive, is coming, I’m pretty sure that the club will be open for it.”

When pressed on what the “right price” could be, Frank added that it would be a “lot.”

Brentford are thought to want £50m for Buemo?

Their valuation comes after the sales of Neal Maupay, Ollie Watkins, and Ivan Toney in previous seasons, with Brentford developing a reputation for nurturing top talent before selling it for a significant profit.
