The summer transfer window brought with it plenty of drama and intrigue, and still there are several questions to be unanswered further down the line.

Liverpool are in the middle of the first international break of the season as they look ahead to a Premier League game against Burnley, on September 14, when they return to top-flight action.

That will be the first of a busy few months, which will see the Reds compete on at least three fronts in September.

Even though the transfer window is closed, Liverpool will still have several key decisions which will need to be made.

Some will be needed in the weeks ahead - while others will be more long-term for the full campaign and beyond.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the key decisions that will need to be made over the next few months;

Liverpool missed out on the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.

The Reds agreed a £35million deal with Crystal Palace, but the switch collapsed after the Eagles were unable to to sign a replacement for the England international.

There would have been some expectation from Liverpool that Guehi would be a member of Slot's squad for the season ahead when the medical was underway on Monday.

Do they continue to show an interest and hope to pursue a deal in January or strike a free transfer deal for the summer, or drop their interest and look at other targets?

Either way, a final decision will have to be made in that regard.

For the last few months, speculation has lingered on Ibrahima Konate's future at Liverpool.

If a deal can be agreed, then the club would be wise to get it wrapped up as soon as possible to prevent speculation from swirling throughout the season.

If Liverpool believe that Konate will not sign a new contract, though, work should be underway behind the scenes to work on a replacement.

One of the stories of the early season, so far, has been Rio Ngumoha's emergence as a star for the first-team.
