As the Premier League title race intensifies, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City face the possibility of being without seven key players for their upcoming clash against Arsenal.
Following the conclusion of the international break, the battle for the league title among Liverpool, Arsenal, and City resumes.
However, Guardiola’s side finds themselves at a greater disadvantage than before the break.
Injuries sustained by Matheus Nunes, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Kyle Walker while on international duty have compounded their injury woes, joining the likes of Ederson, Kevin de Bruyne, and Jack Grealish on the sidelines.
According to Sky Sports, Kyle Walker and John Stones who were forced off with injuries while on international duty with the Three Lions missed City’s training session on Thursday.
Walker was forced to leave the pitch during the first half of Saturday’s defeat to Brazil due to what was described as a tight hamstring.
However, it was later revealed that he would undergo a scan, and his availability for the upcoming match against Arsenal remains uncertain, with his chances rated at 50-50.
Stones’ situation is also unclear
Following Tuesday’s draw against Belgium, England manager Southgate suggested that Stones had an adductor issue in his groin.
The former Everton centre-back appeared uncomfortable when he was substituted just nine minutes into the game.
Pep Guardiola may need to reshuffle his lineup for Sunday’s match, but he will likely be relieved to have goalkeeper Ederson back in contention.
Ederson missed City’s FA Cup win over Newcastle before the international break but is expected to return for the upcoming fixture.
As the highly anticipated clash against Arsenal draws near, Manchester City are poised to swiftly finalise their squad selections.
