Liverpool are poised for a transformative summer transfer window, with reports indicating Arne Slot will be backed by one of the club’s “biggest ever” budgets to defend their Premier League title.

The Telegraph reveals priorities include a left-back (Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, £45m), a center-back (Dean Huijsen, £50m release clause), and a striker, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike (£80m) eyed among other options

Outgoings like Nunez, Joe Gomez, and Kostas Tsimikas will fund moves, while lessons from 2020’s post-title stagnation drive FSG’s ambition to avoid complacency.

There has been little said on a potential right-back signing in light of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s imminent move to Real Madrid.

Many feel that Conor Bradley could become the starting option, but he needs quality back-up due to his less-than-ideal injury record.

As a result, Liverpool have been linked to Juventus’ fullback Andrea Cambiaso, who was very close to a move to Man City in January.

The Turin club is desperate for a significant cash injection following the recent sacking of coach Thiago Motta, with compensation costs further straining their already precarious financial situation.

Manchester City’s pursuit of Cambiaso is well-documented, with Pep Guardiola having personally endorsed the signing during the January transfer window.

Andrea Cambiaso was a concrete target for Manchester City, with the Cityzens expected to return this summer.

The player’s agent, Giovanni Bia, recently namechecked Alexander-Arnold and suggested a domino effect could lead to a transfer to Anfield:

“He is absolutely focused on Juventus,” he said to Tuttomercatoweb.

“It is normal that there are these sirens being one of the strongest full backs in Europe.

There are a few movements around, for example Alexander-Arnold seems like he could go to Real Madrid but in general there are various situations that could change.”

“At the moment he is not interested in anything, his goal is Juventus and to do very well there.

He is absolutely happy at Juventus; he has always said it in a thousand ways and in a thousand places.”

Now Italian outlet Calciomercato have reported that Manchester City should “watch out” for Liverpool attempts in the summer as they must find an heir to Alexander-Arnold ‘destined’ for Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The outlet claims that Cambiaso’s future is in the Premier League and that Pep Guardiola “has not let go” of the Italy international – as the Cityzens need a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.

It is suggested that €40/45 million may be all it takes to coax Cambiaso out of Juve this summer.

Liverpool would need to act decisively to secure his signature?

The player’s versatility—he can operate effectively as a left-back, right-back, or wing-back on either side—makes him an attractive option for both Premier League giants.
