Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has issued a fitness update as he faces a race against time to be fit for next weekend's meeting with Liverpool.

The England international has been sidelined with a calf injury and missed their last two games as well as the Three Lion's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.

Maguire looks set to miss this weekend's game against his former club Leicester City, before United face Atalanta midweek in the Champions League and then Liverpool at Old Trafford on October 24.

The Manchester club are also set to be without new signing Raphael Varane, who will be sidelined for 'a number of weeks' after picking up an injury while on international duty.
