Liverpool have been linked with several attacking reinforcements over recent transfer windows.

Among those names is a versatile forward who’s already made his mark in the Premier League; he’s been on the Reds’ radar for at least a couple of windows.

With the summer window approaching, Liverpool have kept tabs on wide options who can stretch defences, press aggressively, and score goals.

This particular forward ticks all those boxes.

He’s quick, confident on the ball, and effective in transition.

Newcastle United have also shown interest, and the competition is only heating up.

Now, things are getting even more complicated.

A Premier League rival has entered the picture – and it’s not just any rival.

According to The Telegraph, “Manchester United are ready to join the race for Bryan Mbeumo when competition for the £60 million-rated Brentford forward intensifies during the summer transfer window.”

The Cameroon international, who’s had a standout season, is said to be one of the names “high on the list of United’s potential targets” as they prepare for a major rebuild under Ruben Amorim.

Amorim is reportedly keen on reshaping the squad in his first full season at Old Trafford.

Even though letting Marcus Rashford and Antony leave on loan in January raised eyebrows, Amorim insisted the decision was for the good of the team, hinting at a long-term plan that doesn’t involve them.

United are also looking at Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, who has a £65 million release clause.

But the club sees Cunha primarily as a No.

9.

Interest in Mbeumo, according to the report, is not affected by the Cunha pursuit.

United view Mbeumo as one of the best wide forwards in the Premier League.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has already made it clear that Mbeumo’s future may lie elsewhere.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier in the season, he said, “If the price is right – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it.”

He added, “I’ve said many times: we are a selling club?

But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren’t selling clubs.”

Mbeumo, 25, has scored 18 goals this season.

He joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019 for just £5.8 million and has been a key figure in their rise from the Championship.

Liverpool’s interest in him makes sense.

But with United now pushing, the battle for his signature has just become a lot more intense.
