Manchester United have paid tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, who both died in a road traffic accident earlier this month.
Flowers were laid by Ruben Amorim, Bruno Fernandes, and Diogo Dalot as they paid their respects this afternoon.
The message of solidarity is the latest of many hundreds of tributes that have gathered outside the Main Stand in the days since Diogo and Andre tragically passed away.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot earlier gave a heartfelt tribute to Jota as he insisted the club will “always carry him with u,” having already decided to retire his No.20 shirt across all areas of the club.
Slot said ahead of Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Preston North End: “We will always carry him with us in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go.
Maybe especially in difficult moments.
“But in any moment we are here, we will carry him with us in our thoughts and in our hearts.
And I’ve said to them, maybe the best thing for us to do is handle this situation like Jota was.
“And what I meant with that is that Jota was always himself, it didn’t matter if he was talking to me, to his teammates, to the staff, he was always himself?
So let us try to be ourselves as well.”
Jota moved to Anfield from Wolves in 2020 and netted 65 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds.
