Manchester United are 'unlikely' to make a move for former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards, according to reports.

The Manchester club are one of two Premier League sides to be linked with the 43-year-old following his departure from Anfield this summer.

Real Madrid were rumoured to be interested in Edwards last year, while there were also reports Red Bull Leipzig could look to bring him to the Bundesliga.

At Liverpool, Edwards has been replaced by his deputy Julian Ward who has already played a big role in transfers including the signings of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

A report from The Times this week claims Edwards is among the options being considered by Chelsea as a long-term solution.
