Marc Guehi was the centre of a lot of attention during the summer transfer window amid his saga with Liverpool.

Guehi was the subject of prolonged transfer interest from Premier League champions Liverpool but the defender’s deadline day move never properly materialised.

Liverpool focussed their deadline day resources to getting their record breaking £125 million deal for Alexander Isak, and time ran out for Crystal Palace to find a replacement for Guehi.

The England international was the focus of many for how he dealt with Liverpool’s transfer interest, in comparison to the behaviour of Isak and Yoane Wissa.

Many pundits have praised Guehi for his professionalism and willingness to work at Palace while under contract in South London.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino said: “I’m just a delighted a player has honoured his contract […] he didn’t rock any boats, he did what he should have done.

“He made himself available, he was captain at Villa Park [for Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa], and he played his part in their 3-0 victory while also scoring a goal, that’s how it should be, he’s being a professional,” he continued.

“Player power has got stronger, obviously if your contract is running down and you’re down to one year or you’re in a position where your contract has run out, you have nearly all the power, Marc Guehi could easily sign for a club in January, only four months away,” he finished.

After their FA Cup and Community Shield wins, Glasner and Guehi will both look for more success at Selhurst Park this season to cement their Eagles legacies.
