Rio Ferdinand has called out Crystal Palace for "bullying" Marc Guehi into remaining their player despite heavy interest from Liverpool.

And the ex-Manchester United defender has suggested Guehi could have made the move happen had he copied Alexander Isak's tactics this summer.

Guehi, 25, just missed out on a £35million deadline day transfer to Anfield after months of speculation.



Guehi, meanwhile, has kept Palace's fanbase on side by training and playing as usual but failing to get what might have been a once-in-a-lifetime move.

Ferdinand's characterisation that Palace "bullied" their player into staying is an opinion some fans may agree with.

However, just as players have their objectives in the transfer market, so too will a club hoping to keep a captain who has just led them to FA Cup glory and a long-awaited return to European football.

It's Ferdinand's assertion that Palace have known for a long time Guehi, who found sympathy from ex-Palace manager Roy Hodgson, wants to leave and could have signed an appropriate replacement.
