Liverpool are leaving it late to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi to shore up their defence, but a deadline deal now looks very much on the cards alongside a blockbuster move for Alexander Isak.

Some fans in the Liverpool Echo comments section believe he is the final piece of the puzzle as the club set out to defend their Premier League title in earnest.

Liverpool have been tracking Guehi all summer, with the 25-year-old out of contract next year and at risk of leaving his current club for free.
