Former Crystal Palace captain Joel Ward has given his backing to Marc Guehi to be the perfect signing for Liverpool as speculation continues over his future.
The Reds have of course been very busy in the transfer window, with nearly $400 million spent already as the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have been added to Arne Slot’s title winners.
There’s every reason to believe though that they’re not done yet, especially with Alexander Isak’s transfer saga taking yet more twists and turns.
Liverpool could also do with a new center-back, with Guehi the most prominent name linked.

The latest reports from the Daily Mail have claimed that talks are planned with the England international after the Community Shield, which saw Guehi come up against his potential new employers.
And his former teammate Ward, with whom Guehi lifted the FA Cup back in May, has given Liverpool the seal of approval, having suggested he would fit right in with Slot’s side.
“You look at the player makeups that Liverpool have, they need someone who’s mobile and agile, and Marc fits everything they would need, whether it’s now or further down the line,” Ward told TNT Sports.

There is still some doubt over whether Liverpool will make a move for Guehi this summer, given he is only under contract at Palace for another year.
The Eagles are said to want around $61 million for his services, which might see the Reds hold off in order to secure him for free next summer.
Liverpool.com says: Liverpool won’t really need Ward’s review to convince it on Guehi, although it is good to hear how highly he’s rated by his former teammate.
If the Reds aren’t going to sign him this summer, then they still need to find a new defender this summer
