Liverpool’s pursuit of Marc Guehi looks likely to take a step forward over the coming days.
The Reds are on the lookout for a new centre-back after agreeing to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, and Guehi has reportedly been identified as a top target.
Having entered the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace, the 24-year-old is set to be on the market ahead of the new season.
After coming through the Chelsea academy before excelling with Swansea, Guehi has quickly developed into a key figure at Palace, who will be disappointed to lose him.
From a Liverpool point of view, there have been recent suggestions that the Reds could agree a £40m ‘handshake’ deal over Guehi and secure a price which suits everyone.
And as rumours over Guehi and Liverpool reach fever pitch, the centre-back has shared a smiling photograph with a very famous Reds’ supporter.

Once Quansah’s move to Leverkusen is finally formalised, Liverpool are expected to move quickly to sign a new defender.
Given Liverpool have exceeded their squad limit on non-homegrown players, Guehi’s status as someone developed in an English academy makes him an appealing prospect to replace Quansah.

And after the England international shared a photograph on his Instagram page of him and comedian Trevor Noah, a move may be edging closer.

“Pleasure to meet you, Trevor & watch you live!
Thanks, bro,” wrote Guehi, along with a picture of the two men smiling.
With Liverpool supporters pointing out in the comments that Noah is a big fan of the Reds, the potential significance was not lost on them.
As the former host of the American late night show ‘The Daily Show’ Noah will be a more familiar face with supporters in the US.
But having previously featured in the ‘Time 100’ – Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world at any one time – he is a relatively big name.
If Instagram following is anything to go by, then Noah certainly has an impressive one.
That makes Guehi’s following of 194k look slightly modest by comparison.
Noah attended Jurgen Klopp’s final game as Liverpool manager in 2024, and even met the German on the touchline ahead of the match against Wolves.
Given the current noise over Liverpool and Guehi, perhaps Noah had a little word to convince him of the merits of moving to Anfield.
