Marc Guehi has completed his Liverpool medical ahead of his move being made official, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have reached an agreement to sign the England international centre-back from Palace.

The 25-year-old is expected to sign a long-term contract with the Premier League champions.

The deal was struck after both clubs found common ground on the transfer fee, with Liverpool’s initial £35million bid, which included a 10 per cent sell-on clause, forming the basis of the agreement.

We exclusively reported Liverpool’s interest in Guehi in March.

We then exclusively broke the news earlier this summer that Liverpool had reached an agreement on personal terms with Marc Guehi.

Guehi is expected to become Liverpool’s second marquee signing of transfer deadline day, following the club’s record-breaking £125million deal with Newcastle United for striker Alexander Isak.

The defender captained Palace in a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday evening, scoring a stunning second goal in what turned out to be his final appearance for the Eagles.

Guehi declined to comment on his future after the match, which marked the end of his 162-game spell with the London side.

“All I know is when you score goals like that it is always down to team performance,” he said.

“People will try to single out the goal but that was a clear team performance tonight.”

Guehi emerged as a priority signing for Liverpool this summer following Jarell Quansah’s move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Concerns over the Reds’ defensive resilience have grown after they conceded six goals in their opening three matches of the season.

Liverpool were beaten on penalties by Crystal Palace – captained by Guehi – in the Community Shield at Wembley, and twice surrendered two-goal advantages in the Premier League against Bournemouth and Newcastle before eventually battling back to win.
