Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has shared his delight at being included in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.

Following the defender’s successful performances for the Eagles, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Guehi is edging closer to joining Liverpool.

The centre-back has become a regular feature on the international scene for England, while he helped Palace win the FA Cup last term.

Meanwhile, Three Lions boss Tuchel has also handed Elliot Anderson his first senior call-up, after he helped Lee Carsley’s side win the Under-21 European Championship this summer.

During the last international break, England were beaten by Senegal and must produce better quality in September’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.

Meanwhile, Guehi took to his Instagram story on Friday, 29 August, to write: “I thank God” in response to his latest international selection.

Therefore, the German’s task is to go one step further and steer the national team to World Cup glory in 2026.

However, June’s unconvincing 1-0 win over Andorra, as well as a poor showing in a 3-1 defeat to Senegal, leaves Tuchel with a lot of questions to answer.

The England boss has to ensure that his side perform well and achieve victories over both Andorra and Serbia next month, before hosting cross-border rivals Wales on 9 October.

Tuchel’s latest squad selection demonstrates a willingness to improve, as he could hand maiden senior international caps to players like Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson and Tottenham defender Djed Spence.

Meanwhile, the Three Lions will remain reliant on established stars such as Harry Kane and Jordan Pickford.
