Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi's heartwarming reunion on England duty has been praised by fans.

The pair, who were former team-mates at Crystal Palace, had a tumultuous summer, with Eze moving to Arsenal and Guehi's transfer to Liverpool falling through on deadline day.

Guehi, Palace's captain, and dynamic forward Eze were key players in Oliver Glasner's side last year as they clinched the FA Cup and played a crucial role in their Community Shield victory last month.

Guehi, whose contract runs until 2026, had long been on the radar of clubs such as Newcastle United and Chelsea, but it seemed that Anfield would be his next destination.

The defender underwent a medical on the final day of the transfer window.

However, Palace were unable to find a replacement, and with boss Glasner standing firm, the club's captain remained at Selhurst Park, reports the Mirror.

The English duo met up at St George's Park after Guehi's failed move to Liverpool when they reported for England duty, and their embrace and clear strong bond warmed the hearts of fans.

In a video posted on England's official YouTube channel, Thomas Tuchel's squad arrived ahead of their matches against Andorra and Serbia.

Staff welcomed some new faces, including Tottenham's Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson.

Some recognisable figures were also welcomed back, including skipper Harry Kane and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who featured under Tuchel at Chelsea but hasn't played a Three Lions match for seven years.

Eze then embraced Guehi warmly, demonstrating the bond they forged at Selhurst Park.

Supporters online were swift to share their delight at the duo's reunion, with one writing: "That's the spirit of decent players." Meanwhile, a second commented: "Brothers back together."

"That hug said many words," observed a third, whilst a fourth praised: "Eze giving Guehi a hug after the nonsense he's been through." A fifth penned: "Love you Guehi!"

A sixth fan adopted a more sombre view of the embrace given Guehi's transfer breakdown, posting: "Shame man, can see the sympathetic hug from Eze to Guehi about not getting his big move."

Transfer deadline day proved hectic for Guehi, who now appears set to either secure a switch in January or depart on a free transfer next summer.
