Marc Guehi targets surprise new role amid Liverpool transfer interest as subtle hint dropped

Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi has teased he would make an interesting career change if the opportunity ever came around.

But, as things stand, he is captain of Crystal Palace and remains the focus of a tense situation one week before the summer window slams shut.

Guehi has 12 months to run on his Palace contract and Liverpool have made their approach.



However, talks haven't lead anywhere at the moment the with the South London club believed to be asking far in excess of what the Reds are willing to offer under the circumstances.

If an agreement is not reached, before September 1, it would become increasingly that likely Guehi leaves Palace for free next year - something chairman Steve Parish is openly worried about.

"If Marc wants to sign a contract, he can stay," Parish said after the Eagles defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield.

I've seen some pay-per-views.

"It can be dangerous, but the performance side of it, I'm a good waffler on the mic, making people believe you're the bad guy or the good guy."

But it seems Liverpool would not have to be too worried about Guehi's secret ambition getting in the way of an Anfield career, if he were to make a move this summer - or next.

The 25-year-old alluded to 'outside noise' as he discussed his football career, believing his best achievements are still to come while saying he would like to be playing when he's 40-years-old.

"The FA Cup final?

No, no, not for me," Guehi answered when asked what game was the standout from his career.

I don't think I have one if I'm being honest, just because I think that is still to come.

"There will be one to come at some point in my career, but not now.

"(I'm most proud of] just the fact I have kept going, I'd say I am very hard on myself and I like it that way.

"It keeps me on my toes, it keeps me grounded, it keeps me focused and wanting to improve.

"Just the fact I have kept on going.

"Not from any outside noise or anything, but just the pressure I put on myself, I'm quite demanding.

"The fact that I have almost in a way battled it out with myself and I have kept going is a good thing.

"[I want] to play until I'm 40.
