Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Marc Guehi after it emerged that Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Brighton to sign centre-back Igor Julio on a season-long loan.

The Reds have been long linked with a move for Guehi, 25, who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, and made an improved £35million bid for the player on Saturday.

After holding club-to-club talks earlier this month, Arne Slot's side decided to lodge a straight offer to Palace, which has remained on the table.

The bid is understood to include a ten per cent sell-on clause.

Despite Liverpool making a proposal for the England international, he still featured and impressed for Palace during a comprehensive 3-0 win at Aston Villa on Sunday night.

Guehi scored and produced a colossal defensive performance as the Eagles ran out comfortable winners in the West Midlands.

In a post-match interview, Guehi remained tight-lipped on his future and did not give anything away as speculation continues to increase around a potential late summer move to Anfield.

At this stage, Guehi's future is right in the balance but Palace's latest move in the transfer market could be a huge hint that Oliver Glasner's side are planning for life without the ex-Chelsea man.

Indeed, it has been reported that Palace have agreed a deal to sign Igor on loan from Brighton.

However, Igor was not even in the squad for Brighton's 2-1 win against Manchester City on Sunday.

He is surplus to requirements at the Amex Stadium and Palace have made their move as they look to add more strength and depth to their squad for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

Igor is now said to be at Palace's training ground and undergoing a medical ahead of putting the finishing touches on a loan move to the Conference League club.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

As for Guehi, this could free up his proposed move to Liverpool before Monday's 7pm transfer deadline.

After he scored against Villa on Sunday, the ex-Swansea City loanee was asked about playing for Palace, his future and his overall mindset amid speculation about a potential departure and a late move to the Reds.

He told Sky Sports: "I am OK.
