Marc Guehi almost joined Liverpool on transfer deadline day(Image: Photo by Michael Regan - The FA/The FA via Getty Images)Marc Guehi continues to be heavily linked with a move to Liverpool after a deadline-day transfer from Crystal Palace collapsed at the eleventh hour.
The Reds left it late to prise the 25-year-old defender from Selhurst Park, racing to agree personal terms and complete a medical.
The ECHO understands that Liverpool had agreed a £35 million deal with the Eagles, only for the transfer to collapse.
Crystal Palace were unable to bring in a replacement, so they pulled the plug.
Fortunately for Arne Slot, he had already bolstered his backline, signing Giovanni Leoni from Parma for £26m.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.
The ECHO understands that Liverpool are currently unlikely to submit a bid for Guehi in the next transfer window, given that he will be available on a free in the summer.
If the Premier League champions choose to bide their time, they risk the deal being hijacked.
From January, overseas clubs will be eligible to open pre-contract talks with the Crystal Palace captain over a free transfer in the summer.
Liverpool, however, will have to wait until Guehi has entered the final month of his contract before they can begin arranging such a deal.
According to The Telegraph, clubs are ready to rival Liverpool for Guehi's signature.
The report claims that the Reds view him as next year's 'primary target'.
Speaking to reporters ahead of what was set to be Guehi's final appearance for Crystal Palace against Aston Villa, Glasner claimed the defender 'has to' stay because it's 'not possible' to find a suitable replacement.
Just before the international break, the Eagles boss said: "Our foundation of the success we had is our defence.
"We had two clean sheets against Fredrikstad.
So Marc is fully committed to the team."
