DaveOCKOP reported late on Sunday evening that talks for Isak were progressing positively, with David Ornstein endorsing our report.
It has since emerged that the Swedish striker is now on Merseyside to complete his medical and all the formalities ahead of his British record move ahead of the 7pm BST deadline.
But Liverpool still want Guehi, and a deal is still on despite some late obstacles.
The Reds have already submitted an official £35 million though the Eagles are holding out for an additional £5 million in bonuses and a 10% sell-on clause to reach their £40 million valuation.
However, Liverpool is expected to sanction a £40 million bid to complete the deal.
There were positive talks on Sunday evening despite the strong stance of Eagles boss Oliver Glasner:
“There is no deal,” Glasner said after his side’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
“We can decide, he is our player and under contract?
It is up to us.”
“The only one who decides if Marc has to stay is our chairman.”
It’s clear that Glasner desperately wants his skipper to stay, but all signs are pointing towards Guehi completing the deadline day move.
The Austrian manager wants adequate replacements before the window closes, besides Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot who is anticipated to join Selhurst Park before the transfer deadline.
Palace chairman Steve Parish, aware that Guehi is not going to sign a new deal, is open to a sale for obvious reasons.
He wants to net some profit on the £18 million the Eagles paid for Guehi back in 2021 to Chelsea.
Regarding a potential deal involving Gomez, the Liverpool defender is keener on AC Milan than a move to South London.
It is believed Crystal Palace would match AC Milan’s fee for Joe Gomez and Liverpool would accept that, but Joe Gomez is keen on Milan if he has to leave.
Marc Guehi wants the move to Liverpool but won’t rock the boat.
It’s set to be a stunning end to the transfer window for the Reds, with the double swoop for Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi very much alive.
