Thomas Tuchel has yet to address Marc Guehi’s concern for England after being questioned during Euro 2024 in England.
Guehi scored his first England goal as the Three Lions thrashed Serbia 5-0 on Tuesday, 9 September, not being shaken by the Crystal Palace star’s failed move to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool were pushing to sign Guehi on transfer deadline day, with the defender undergoing a medical in London, before the deal fell through due to issues on Palace’s end.
Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has continued to be a professional for club and country.
Yet, he is likely still surprised not to see one of his close teammates alongside him at international level.

When discussing who should make the England plane for the 2026 World Cup, one fan asked about the possible inclusion of Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell.
Taking to X (10 September), Henry Winter wrote: “We asked Guehi in Germany whether he was surprised Mitchell wasn’t at the Euros, and of course he was.
“Tuchel’s not mentioned Mitchell as I can recall, and England have options there, I’ve not even mentioned Shaw,” which appears to be a surprise for most fans, with Clinton Morrison labelling the player “brilliant” in 2022 [BBC’s Wednesday Night Club].

Mitchell, 26, has just two caps to his name, dating all the way back to 2022.
He earned his debut from the start during a friendly against the Ivory Coast before featuring as a substitute against Switzerland.
He has not featured for the Three Lions since then, with strong links emerging with a switch to Jamaica.
Reece James has impressed for England recently, locking down the right-back position, but the opposite flank looks up for grabs as Thomas Tuchel prepares for the 2026 World Cup.
Newcastle United‘s Tino Livramento started against Serbia, with Djed Spence earning his first cap, though Myles Lewis-Skelly was left out of the England squad completely.
Nobody has been able to nail down the position yet, with many supporters wondering exactly why Mitchell has not been given the opportunity to do so since his appearances three years ago.
The 26-year-old is regular at Selhurst Park, registering some of the best defensive stats in the Premier League, but he continues to watch England from the comfort of his own home.
It doesn’t make sense, and clearly Guehi agrees.
