Marcus Rashford’s career at Man United may not yet be over as Ruben Amorim struggles to turn his own fortunes around.
Rashford thrived during his six-month loan at Aston Villa last season, notching four goals and five assists in 17 appearances, even knocking fan favourite Ollie Watkins down Unai Emery’s pecking order.
However, with the Villans being pushed by PSR restrictions, the England international eventually sealed his move to Barcelona, where his start to life at the Nou Camp has not gone as expected.
Hansi Flick’s “experiment” with Rashford at Barcelona completely backfired as the winger was hooked at half-time against Levante, only for his teammates to stage a comeback win from two goals behind.

It became apparent very quickly that his future lay away from Old Trafford when Amorim was appointed, being added to the manager’s “bomb squad” before being shipped out on loan.
The general feeling was that the Red Devils were simply kicking the can down the road until next summer, when they would have to deal with the drama of Rashford‘s future all over again.

However, that moment might never come for the 20-time Premier League champions, with Amorim coming under increasing pressure as Man United boss, with defeat against Burnley likely disastrous.
His side were just kicked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town on penalties, a game which finished with the manager crouched behind his staff, unable to watch the shootout at Blundell Park.
The former Sporting CP boss is quickly running out of time to prove himself adequate to thrive at the Theatre of Dreams, and while a potential replacement is unclear, Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have no other choice.
A brand new face in the dugout could hand a lifeline to Rashford, who is currently watching the chaos from afar, and with approaching 500 appearances for the club, an emotional return could be what he needs.
His move to the Nou Camp has been far from ideal so far, but if that is what it takes for him to realise that Man United will always be his home, the majority of supporters may welcome him back with open arms.
Sitting eighth in the club’s all-time list of Premier League goalscorers, the 27-year-old still has the chance to create history with the Red Devils, but that only seems possible if he returns to a different manager in charge.
Given how Amorim’s tenure is going right now, a manager change before next summer is not completely out of the question.
