Liverpool are set to smash their club-record transfer as they push to seal a £116m deal for Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool are adamant that this isn’t a British-record transfer, but it is still the biggest deal Liverpool have done in their history.

Florian Wirtz has been the story of the summer so far, but there could be an even bigger story on the horizon.

Liverpool have been linked with Alexander Isak, and according to Sami Mokbel, speaking on The Football Terrace, a potential deal for Isak would be even bigger than the Wirtz transfer.

Mokbel was discussing Wirtz’s move to Liverpool.

The BBC journalist reckons this could be the biggest deal of the summer, but he notes that any move for Alexander Isak would likely be bigger.

However, he did add that it would have to be an outrageous move for Isak to move away from Newcastle.

“It’s massive, I can’t see another (bigger) deal.

Unless something outrageous happens with someone like Alexander Isak.

It will most likely be the biggest deal of the summer, Liverpool have got their number one target,” Mokbel said.

“£116m all in, a £100m fixed fee.

But we’ve seen the qualities he has,” Mokbel said.

The Alexander Isak rumours have been quieter around Liverpool as of late, largely due to the fact the Florian Wirtz deal has taken centre stage.

However, according to Mokbel, there are still some suggestions that Liverpool are keen on Isak.

Have you come across anything like that,” Mokbel was asked.

“Yeah, not to the point where I’ve had it verified or have been comfortable enough to write it or report it, but I’d be lying if I said that, even recently, I haven’t heard anything about Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak.

The biggest concern is, is it financially viable?” Mokbel said.

If Liverpool land Isak and Wirtz in the same transfer window, this would surely go down as one of the greatest transfer windows in Premier League history for any club.
