Liverpool are now looking ahead to their first transfer window under Arne Slot.

Although Slot is not yet officially on board at Anfield, it is seemingly just a matter of time before things are formally announced.

Now, with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes heading up the recruitment team, work can slowly start to begin on upgrading Liverpool’s squad.

So far, centre-back looks like being the most likely area the Reds will target.

However, with Wataru Endo claimed to be potentially on the way out, a new midfielder may be needed, too.

As well as links to defenders and midfielders though, the press has also been suggesting possible new attacking options for Liverpool, too.

And according to journalist Alex Crook, there’s likely to be a ‘massive’ piece of news in that area of that pitch.

Whether Liverpool are inclined to sign a new forward this summer was always likely to be dependent on Mohamed Salah.

Having turned down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, it felt likely that the Reds would be more open to letting Salah leave in 2024.

However, according to reports across Monday and Tuesday, the Egyptian now looks set to stay at Anfield for at least another season.

And speaking to TalkSPORT on Tuesday afternoon, Crook claimed that if Liverpool can pull that off, it will be ‘massive news’ for the club and the wider Premier League.

“I think this is massive news not just for Liverpool but for the Premier League as well as for this summer’s transfer window,” says the reporter.

“It does look as if Liverpool are confident Salah will stay at Anfield at least for the final year of his contact.

Even sources in Saudi Arabia are suggesting they’re not as confident as perhaps they once were that they could prise Salah away this summer.

“What I’m being told by sources at Liverpool is just because the manager is leaving, it doesn’t mean that the star player is walking out of the door as well.”

In a summer where Liverpool were already planning to lose Klopp, it’s a bit of a relief that Salah will not be following.

Despite his poor form recently, the 31-year-old is still one the absolute key players for the Reds.

Plenty have been quick to write off a post-Klopp Liverpool.
