Alexander Isak is a better “all-round” player than Erling Haaland even if the Man City striker finds the back of the net more often.
That is according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who revealed exclusively to Football Insider the two current Premier League strikers he would most have liked to play alongside.
This summer has been all about the number nines.
Chelsea have signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Liverpool have brought in Hugo Ekitike and want Alexander Isak, Man United added Benjamin Sesko to their ranks, and Viktor Gyokeres has joined Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Leeds, Brighton, and Everton have all signed new strikers, whilst Newcastle and Fulham are likely to add one too before the window closes.
The desire for a focal point in attack has come with a change in approach for many Premier League clubs.
Bournemouth, Fulham, Brighton, and Brentford all saw more success last season by playing a fast and direct approach.
The style harkens back to the early era of Premier League football, when strikers reigned supreme, before Pep Guardiola’s tiki-taka play became de facto approach for many teams.

This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, Le Tissier revealed that whilst Haaland was a great goal-scorer, he would have preferred to play alongside an “all-round” striker like Isak.
He said: “Obviously Haaland’s probably the best goal-scorer, but for the all-round play, I think Isak is probably a little bit better than Haaland.
“In terms of his hold-up play and bringing other players into the game, I think he’s probably a little bit better.

“That would probably suit me better because obviously I like to score a lot of goals as well and if I was in the team with Haaland, I probably wouldn’t have got many chances.“
When asked whether he would have enjoyed playing alongside a selfless striker like Sesko, Le Tissier added: “Some of my best seasons were where I played off of a target man.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Newcastle could sign Yoane Wissa and keep Isak this summer, as Eddie Howe’s side were not reliant on selling the Sweden international to fund their move for the Brentford striker.
The former Real Sociedad man would then be forced to either end his strike or miss out on playing football until January at the earliest.
