Aston Villa defender Matty Cash has shared an update as the club wrapped up their final preparations ahead of the Premier League’s opening weekend.
It has been a challenging summer for Aston Villa, with financial constraints limiting major movement in the transfer market.
Aston Villa even sold their women’s team to parent company V Sports in order to comply with Premier League regulations, while a number of first-team players have been linked with moves away amid the looming threat of UEFA sanctions.
Football Insider have reported that Aston Villa are open to offers for Cash, with any sale potentially helping to raise funds for reinvestment with the Poland international attracting interest.
Despite the speculation, the right-back appeared in good spirits as he shared a positive update from the training ground, signalling his focus is firmly on the season ahead.

Although he has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa, Cash has been fully involved in the club’s latest training session and appeared in high spirits.
In an update shared on social media, the right-back captioned his post: “Game week” with a heart emoji, as Villa prepare for a challenging Premier League opener against Newcastle on 16 August.

Cash was a consistent presence in Unai Emery’s side last season, making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists.
However, Aston Villa want to sell Cash and while there has been interest in his services, his reported £100,000-per-week wages are said to have deterred potential suitors.
Former club scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that some staff members at Aston Villa have held reservations about Cash since his arrival from Nottingham Forest in 2020, and the club would be willing to sanction an exit if the right offer arrives.

Villa have had a relatively quiet summer window so far, with Evann Guessand and Marco Bizot their only arrivals.
However, there are suggestions they could move for a winger before the deadline.
Reports claim Villa have made an enquiry for Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard, with Leon Bailey close to sealing a move to Roma.
The Belgian forward is reportedly surplus to requirements at the Emirates, with contract talks stalling over the summer.
