Crystal Palace shared an update on Jean-Philippe Mateta with the striker still yet to sign a new contract with the club.
The French striker’s career at Selhurst Park seemed to be over before it had even begun, before the arrival of Oliver Glasner changed everything.
In Mateta‘s first two and a half seasons with Palace, the former Mainz forward netted just 10 times in 67 games.

However, since the start of the 2023/24 season, the 28-year-old has scored 36 times in 85 games and is one of the Premier League’s most dangerous men in front of goal.
That fine form has led to serious interest from clubs such as Man United in Mateta, and the demand for a guaranteed goal-getter is as high as it has ever been, thanks to the high demand and low supply in the transfer market.
Palace are preparing for the 2025/26 campaign by spending the summer in Austria.

Two goals from the French striker, and a strike from Arsenal target Eberechi Eze gave Palace a win over the German side.
Following his opener, Palace shared several images of Mateta performing his trademark celebration of decapitating the corner flag, captioned: “Mateta again allez allez”, and Lacroix liked the post in a show of support for his teammate.
Football Insider Verdict
Mick Brown told Football Insider exclusively that Mateta was in advanced talks to sign a new Crystal Palace deal, despite interest from several major clubs.
That news came on 22 June and was widely reported elsewhere, making it seem like it was a matter of time before the enigmatic Frenchman committed his future to the South London club.
However, over a month later, at the time of writing, there have been no announcements from the player or the club.

Mateta has just two years remaining on his current deal, and may push for a move this summer if he cannot agree to new terms with the club.
The 27-year-old’s exit would be a devastating blow, with Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, and Eze all linked with departures aswell.
