Liverpool are yet to make a single signing in the January transfer window and it looks as if it could be a quiet month for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp's side are on a poor run of form at the moment, having not scored a single goal in their last four Premier League games.

However, it's the centre of defence that looks like a problem area for the champions, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both sidelined through serious knee injuries.

Many thought that Klopp would look to solve this problem in January by bringing in a central defender. He still could do, with a host of centre-backs linked with a switch to Anfield.

The opportunity is there if Liverpool did want to strengthen their squad this month and with that being said, based on the latest odds, here are the players who are likeliest to make a move to the red half of Merseyside before the January transfer window shuts.

Ben White - 3/1

After a tremendous showing for Leeds United in the Championship last season, Ben White returned to Brighton at the start of this campaign.

Liverpool were first linked with a move for White in the summer after his impressive loan spell at Elland Road.

The 23-year-old was valued at £40m by the Seagulls over the summer and that may have increased by now after a strong start to life in the Premier League.

Manchester United are joint-favourites with the Reds to sign the English defender, with AC Milan (8/1), Leeds (25/1) and Manchester City (33/1) being the outsiders.

Conor Coady - 4/1

Another central defender - this time, in the form of ex-Liverpool academy star Conor Coady, who is now at Wolves.

Coady has been exceptional for Nuno Espirito Santo's team in the Premier League since their promotion in 2018.

The England defender is brilliant on the ball, whilst also being an old-fashioned centre-back in the way he throws himself at shots and into tackles.

The Reds are clear favourites to sign the 27-year-old with a 4/1 value, with Manchester United (16/1), Tottenham (16/1) and Manchester City (20/1) also listed.

Eder Militao - 5/1

Real Madrid defender Eder Militao has been the centre of plenty of transfer speculation recently, with Liverpool being one of the numerous clubs linked.

Militao has featured just twice for Los Blancos in La Liga this season and could look for a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu to get more minutes under his belt.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham - who are listed as the 4/1 favourites - as well as Bayern Munich, who are 9/2.

The Reds are 5/1, with AC Milan (10/1), Manchester United (10/1), Paris Saint-Germain (12/1) and Juventus (16/1).

Jadon Sancho - 9/1

There has been speculation surrounding Liverpool and Jadon Sancho, but the majority of reports have suggested a move to Manchester United is more likely.

United were desperate to sign Sancho over the summer but were ultimately put off by Borussia Dortmund's price-tag.

A move for the England international, in this window especially, seems very unlikely for Klopp's side, but they have been named as the second most likely team to complete a deal this month.

United are unsurprisingly listed as the favourites to sign the former Manchester City academy star this month (4/1), with Liverpool at 9/1) and his aforementioned old club (20/1).

James Tarkowski - 6/1

James Tarkowski shone in Burnley's surprise 1-0 victory at Anfield on Thursday evening and Liverpool have been tipped to sign the Clarets defender.

Tarkowski is seemingly keen to leave Turf Moor after rejecting contract offers last season and over the summer.

With the Reds in need of a centre-back, a move for the 27-year-old - who is theoretically approaching the 'peak' years of his career - does make sense.

However, Burnley are in no rush to sell their defender during the mid-season window, despite being listed at 6/1 to move to Anfield.

Kylian Mbappe - 9/1

Kylian Mbappe's contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer of 2022, but the France star is in talks over a new deal.

If Mbappe did make a sensational switch to Liverpool, then it could be the signing of a generation.

The 22-year-old is arguably the most sought-after talent in world football and the Reds are named as second favourites to land him.

Real Madrid are the most likely team to complete the signing this month (7/1), with Liverpool at 9/1, Barcelona (12/1), Bayern Munich (25/1), Manchester City (25/1) and Manchester United (25/1).

Tyrone Mings - 7/1

Another central defender on the list is Tyrone Mings, who has been brilliant for Aston Villa this season.

Mings has previously been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, but Liverpool have been named as big favourites to sign him.

The Reds are 7/1 to sign the England international, with Manchester United (25/1), Manchester City (33/1) and Chelsea (50/1).

Villa are under no pressure to sell the 27-year-old, who still has over three years remaining on his deal with the Midlands-based club.

Rodrigo de Paul - 12/1

Leeds United were heavily linked with a move for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul in the summer transfer window.

However, the Argentine stay put in the Serie A for the time being, but the Whites remain favourites to secure his signature.

Liverpool are also on the list - this time as outsiders, though - with a 14/1 value, which is lower than Inter Milan (8/1) and Leeds (9/2).

Recent reports have suggested that the Reds have sent scouts to watch the 26-year-old in action for Udinese.
