Rangers have agreed terms with Everton forward Youssef Chermiti as they close in on a £10million deal, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old is on standby to undergo a medical as the two clubs thrash out the structure of the fee.
Discussions are advancing over a deal in which the Gers will pay an initial fee of around £8m, plus £2m in add-ons.
The package also includes a significant sell-on clause based on the profit Rangers make on any future transfer.
Talks were initially held over a loan deal for Chermiti, but the Glasgow giants then turned their attention to agreeing a permanent deal.

Rangers’ potential move for the Everton forward follows the departure of Hamza Igamane, who officially joined Lille on Friday.
During his final weeks at Ibrox, Igamane refused to come off the bench during the Bears’ 1-1 draw with St Mirren.

The 22-year-old eventually forced through a transfer, leaving Russell Martin in need of striker reinforcements with the transfer deadline looming.
Martin has had an abysmal start to life in charge of Rangers, but will hope that the potential signing of Chermiti can bring some positivity and help turn his side’s fortunes around.
The Portuguese striker joined Everton from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2023, but has failed to make a real impact on Merseyside, and now looks set for a move to Scotland.

Meanwhile, Rangers will be left with “no choice” but to sack Martin if fan protests at Ibrox continue to gather pace in the coming weeks, sources have told Football Insider.
The Scottish giants were knocked out of the Champions League following a 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge, which saw banners hung at Ibrox calling for the former Southampton manager to be dismissed.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 25 August that Martin is under “huge” pressure at Rangers as sections of the fanbase have begun to turn on him.
Supporters have threatened to stop attending games should the boss remain in charge, and while the incident seems isolated, it will put pressure on the board.
