Michel-Ange Balikwisha is having a medical in London today ahead of his move to Celtic from Royal Antwerp, sources have told Football Insider.

The former Belgium Under-21 international is completing the final stages of his transfer to the Glasgow giants, with confirmation expected imminently.

Sources say that there is a full agreement between the two clubs.

It comes after Balikwisha was left out of Antwerp’s squad on Sunday (24 August) for their game against KV Mechelen, hinting that his move to the Scottish champions was close.

Despite the perfect start to their Scottish Premiership season, with a 100% record, Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League in the play-off stage.

The Hoops were beaten on penalties by Kazakh champions Kairat Almaty, with Daizen Maeda missing the decisive spot-kick to condemn his side to an embarrassing exit.

Both legs of the tie finished 0-0, meaning that Brendan Rodgers’ side were unable to score a single goal in 210 minutes of football against the European minnows.

It highlights Celtic’s lack of attacking quality, something they will hope to address with the addition of Balikwisha.

The 24-year-old was out with injury for the majority of last season, but managed four goals and three assists towards the back end of the campaign, in just 16 appearances.

Meanwhile, Rodgers is high on the shortlist of names Nottingham Forest would consider if Nuno Espirito Santo leaves the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Whispers are intensifying that Espirito Santo could be sacked by Forest, after news of a behind-the-scenes bust-up with owner Evangelos Marinakis went public.

Global head of football at the City Ground, Edu Gaspar, has also reportedly had a run-in with the Portuguese manager, who is unhappy with the club’s transfer activity.

Football Insider first revealed in April that Rodgers could quit Celtic amid Premier League interest, and sources say that the 52-year-old is firmly in contention for the Forest job if it became available.
