Merseyside Police continue to update the public regarding the detainment of the motorist liable for slamming into the Liverpool Premier League trophy parade and injuring spectators.
Law enforcement urged its citizens not to assume the criminal's motive or connection to the event.
A police representative provided a full statement on X at 3:17 p.m.
ET that read, "We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight's incident on Water Street in Liverpool city center.
We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area."
"Extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision," the message continued.
We ask people not to share distressing content online but to send the footage or information directly to us or pass on information," finishing with a Crimestoppers phone number provided for anonymous tips."
