Liverpool are looking to improve multiple areas of their squad this summer.

They have brought in a full-back on each flank in the form of Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, as well as a creative powerhouse in Florian Wirtz.

Another focus is the striker department, which is an area of mild concern for Liverpool, and as a result find themselves in the market for a new talisman.

Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are both rumoured with moves away from the club, and if the pair were to leave then Liverpool would respond accordingly in finding replacements.

On top of this, Diogo Jota has come off the back of another inconsistent season, raising the idea that a clinical striker might just be what Liverpool need next season.

Liverpool’s front-line is uniquely fluid in the way that they set up.

The attacking trio are not assigned to particular positions, as they move throughout the game.

Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have shown this versatility already during their time at the club, and Arne Slot has preferred playing either of the pair in the No.9 role this season over other traditional centre-forwards like Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

There is one attribute that Arne Slot appreciates above all else and that is versatility.

Strikers who are versatile are particularly appreciated by the Dutchman, as Merseyside reporter Lewis Steele explains.

Alexander Isak of Newcastle, Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt and Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid are the three strikers that have been brought up the most in connection with a move to Liverpool.

Whether Liverpool have the financial capability to strike a deal for any of that trio remains to be seen, but the departure of other players could free up funds that could be directed towards a new forward.
