Merseyside journalist Lewis Steele has provided an update on new Arne Slot contract talks.
The Dutchman penned a three-year deal when he arrived last summer, with it being active from 1 June 2024.
From the moment he replaced Jurgen Klopp, he set about instilling his high-intensity, possession-based approach across the squad.
It was slight tweaks that largely built on the German’s excellent foundations, but with his own spin on it.
Under Slot’s guidance, Liverpool rewrote the record books.
In his very first season, the Dutchman led Liverpool back to the summit of English football, clinching the 2024-25 Premier League title with a remarkable 13-point margin at the top of the table
He became the first manager in Premier League history to win his opening six away fixtures and amassed eight victories in his first ten top-flight matches – a feat no previous Liverpool boss had achieve.
Arne Slot’s also almost maintained perfect record through the league stage of the Champions League and recorded a landmark victory over Real Madrid, ending a 15-year winless streak against the Spanish giants.
And it seems his good work is set to be rewarded.
Lewis Steele, speaking on the Whistleblowers podcast, feels that Arne Slot and his representatives are in talks with the Anfield chiefs over a new deal:
“I think that is ongoing at the moment,” the Daily Mail reporter said.
“We asked Slot about this a few months ago and he didn’t deny it.”
“I asked Slot’s camp about it, and they didn’t deny it either.”
By pursuing an early renewal, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) can lock in the architect of their title success and send a clear message to transfer targets that Slot remains central to the Reds’ long-term project.
The fact that neither Slot nor his representatives felt the need to deny speculation is quite telling too.
