And, while speaking to German outlet Sport BILD, former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack gave his thoughts on why Wirtz chose Liverpool over Bayern in the summer.

But fundamentally, I’m concerned about something else.

“Let’s take Wirtz as an example: Does it make sense for him and his development to play in the Bundesliga for Bayern for another two or three years?

That’s why changes are needed.”

It’s hard to ignore the fact that there have been a couple of teething problems for Wirtz since he joined Liverpool.

Of course, the midfielder is still only 22 years old, so he still has plenty of time to learn and develop, but since Liverpool have spent a guaranteed £100million on him, you’d have likely expected a bit more from the youngster.
