Edwards' replacement at Liverpool has already been identified as Julian Ward, who currently serves as assistant sporting director.
Edwards announced his intention to leave Liverpool back in November, bringing to an end his successful spell at the club.
Last year, he took on the role of assistant sporting director and over the past 12 months he has been introduced to other facets of the role that are vital to its success."
The report claims Edwards 'has a profile that meets many criteria' Nice are searching for as they prepare for a restructure of the club's hierarchy.
His next step within the game is yet to be announced, though it has been claimed Nice are considering the Reds' transfer guru as a replacement for their current sporting director Julien Fournier.
That's according to French outlet Nice Matin, who state this position could become available as Fournier is expected to exit the Ligue 1 side.
