Eberechi Eze has shared a celebratory message after helping Arsenal win on his Champions League debut.

On Tuesday, 16 September, Arsenal beat Athletic Club 2-0, thanks to goals from substitutes Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Martinelli made Champions League history by coming off the bench to score the fastest goal ever produced by a substitute, having replaced Eze in the 71st minute.

The Gunners have now won two successive games since their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last month.

Eze has already proven himself as a strong addition for Mikel Arteta’s men by notching an assist as Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 on Saturday, 13 September.

Meanwhile, after enjoying his first taste of Champions League football, the 27-year-old wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, 17 September: “CL stuff.

Eze’s message attracted a like from his former Crystal Palace teammate Michael Olise, who is set to feature for Bayern Munich against Chelsea on 17 September.

Arsenal enjoyed a successful transfer window, and summer recruits Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, and Cristhian Mosquera have all had a positive impact at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Arteta should still be concerned over whether his side have what it takes to get themselves over the line and win silverware for the first time since their FA Cup triumph in 2020.

The Gunners showed signs of fragility when they lost 1-0 to defending Premier League champions Liverpool on 31 August, lacking firepower despite their recent reinforcements.

Meanwhile, upcoming opponents Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-0 in their last top-flight outing and will arrive at the Emirates in a buoyant mood.

However, Arsenal cannot afford to drop points against Pep Guardiola’s men, as they already sit three points behind league leaders Liverpool, who will fancy their chances of beating local rivals Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday, 20 September.
