Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has given his verdict on the booing of Trent Alexander-Arnold(Image: Visionhaus/Getty Images)
Michael Owen was left disappointed by Liverpool supporters who booed Trent Alexander-Arnold inside Anfield for Liverpool's draw with Arsenal.
However, the former Reds and Real Madrid striker believes that it is only 'less than one percent' who feel as strongly to do so and the vast majority are appreciative of the departing vice-captain.
Moments that stole the spotlight from the newly-crowned champions' stalemate with second-placed Arsenal were pre-match, when Alexander-Arnold's name was booed by a select amount as it was read out as part of the Liverpool team, the same again when the same player replaced Conor Bradley during the second half and lastly once again as the 26-year-old clapped those in the crowd at full-time.
Animosity was evidently felt by some attending the player's first Anfield match since confirming that he will leave the club upon the end of his contract, with a free transfer to Real Madrid expected to happen.

Afterward, head coach Arne Slot told broadcasters everybody is entitled to their own opinions, paying close attention to those who showed appreciation to the No.66 and stuck by the substitution as Alexander-Arnold helped almost find a late winner.
"I totally get it from Arne Slot's point of view.
I do question what he will do in the remaining two games," Owen began to tell Premier League Productions.
The striker-turned-pundit - who angered Reds fans when he first completed an £8m transfer to Real in 2004 before later joining Manchester United in his career - seemed to take issue with comparisons between Alexander-Arnold's impending departure and legendary club captain Steven Gerrard's decision to stay.

Upon the news of the departure, Owen had said that he wishes the full-back the best in his next steps.
He continued: "They were chanting for Steven Gerrard, there was an underlying reason why.
Every article you read, every fan's comment that you see is 'well, Steven Gerrard didn't leave, etcetera etcetera.
"They're comparing this situation.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to [leave], but Steven Gerrard didn't so you can stay, you can win things.
"Of course you can, but everybody is now using that and that is probably the underlying reason they were singing that."
Owen was also adamant that there are the vast majority won't have taken part in the act.
"I thought Arne Slot was bang on there, the first part of my answer when you first asked me was that it wasn't the whole stadium.
500 boos amongst a 60,000 crowd, you will here them.
"That is only a tiny percentage - less than one percent - of the fans you would here.
"There might have been more, but it certainly wasn't the whole stadium.
"There are certainly millions and millions and millions of fans all around the world who would absolutely clap, thank, praise Trent Alexander-Arnold for his contribution.
"That is important to state as well, as much as me and [Ian] Wrighty have spoken about how painful it is for a handful of people to be [booing], there are a vast majority who are appreciative of what he has done."
There are two more matches of the season remaining, including the final home game of the season against Crystal Palace - which will be Alexander-Arnold's final home appearance.
Following the match the Premier League trophy is to be lifted and the day after it is to be paraded around the city on an open top bus, again with the full-back to be involved.

Then he has until the end of June before his contract ends, unless Real are able to negotiate an early exit in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.
