Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has heaped praise on Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

Owen enjoyed a career playing alongside some of the stellar names in world football during his time at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

We just grew up playing alongside each other.

The 39-year-old, whose new autobiography 'Reboot' has been released, believes that Gerrard is only second to Zinedine Zidane with the best he played with.

Speaking about Gerrard in a recent interview with the BBC Sport, Owen said: "I played with some great players - Zinedine Zidane was off the scale in terms of natural ability.

Owen and Gerrard worked their way through the Reds Academy together and the former striker holds the Reds legend in such high esteem.

I think he's genuinely one of the best England payers to have lived."
