As with most big football stories, however, every pundit wants in on it, and after the transfer of Marc Guehi to the Reds fell through, the former Liverpool man shared his thoughts on how things panned out.

One of the main stories to dominate the transfer window this summer was that Liverpool were willing to break the British transfer record to sign Alexander Isak.

Rumours of the Sweden international making the move to Merseyside have been rife since June, and although it took until deadline day to get it over the line, it’s finally been completed.

However, throughout the summer, Isak kicked up a massive fuss and flat-out refused to play for Newcastle, whereas Guehi chose to remain professional and show up for his team.

And, while the fans may have appreciated that, it’s clear that it isn’t the right way to go about things because, despite Liverpool being his dream move, he still wasn’t allowed to exit.

Taking to X, Owen gave his thoughts on what this could mean for future transfer windows.

Behave badly and get the move you want,” he wrote.

“Behave like a gentleman and miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“No prizes for guessing how players will act in the future if this is the result.”

Throughout most of the summer transfer window, Steve Parish was adamant that Crystal Palace couldn’t let their captain go for free at the end of the season.

And, while there is still time in the January transfer window for a deal to be struck, Liverpool would likely want to pay less than half of the £35million they were willing to offer this summer.
