Mikel Arteta has explained why Arsenal moved to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
The Gunners confirmed on Thursday that they had completed the signing of the Denmark international in a deal worth an initial £10million, plus £2m in add-ons.
The midfielder has signed a two-year contract, which contains the option for a further 12-month extension.
The 31-year-old made 196 appearances in all competitions for the Bees, including 122 in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals and assisting 18 times.
Arsenal finished 10 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table last season, and as Arteta looks to close the gap on the Reds, he has revealed why he wanted to bring Norgaard to the Emirates Stadium.
