Milos Kerkez has praised Andy Robertson for helping him settle at Liverpool despite the summer signing essentially ousting the Scotland captain from the team.
Kerkez, who joined from Bournemouth in a deal worth $54 million (£40M) in June, has started all four matches this season, limiting Robertson to two appearances off the bench.
But there appears to be no resentment from the experienced defender, who has been a mainstay of the team for the last eight years.
Renowned as a genial and charismatic figure, Robertson opted to remain at Liverpool this summer and was named vice-captain by Arne Slot.
Speaking after Sunday’s win over Arsenal, Kerkez said Robertson has been hugely influential in his first weeks at Liverpool.
“Obviously, you can say he’s a legend here already and he did a lot of amazing stuff,” the Reds’ new No.
Sunday's performance against Arsenal was Kerkez's best since signing for Liverpool
He’s the vice-captain and he’s really holding the locker room well.
“For me, I’m honored to have someone like that next to me, so I can continue to improve in the coming years also
He’s going to help me in that,”
Earlier this week, Robertson opened up on the decision to remain at Liverpool this summer, despite links of a transfer away from Anfield.
“When you're at a top club, I think the season's long, there's plenty of games, and I believe I'll play plenty of games,” the 31-year-old told BBC Scotland.
