Milos Kerkez's former club - AZ Alkmaar - have dropped a cryptic transfer hint as Liverpool attempt to complete a deal to sign the Hungary international.

The Reds are aiming to finalise a swoop for the 21-year-old in a busy start to the summer transfer window.

Arne Slot's champions are readying their efforts to ramp up interest in the Bournemouth left-back as the Dutchman looks to add reinforcements.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes brought the defender to the Premier League from the Eredivisie and his performances for the Cherries have placed him on the radar for several clubs.

The Reds are keen to replenish their left-back department with Andy Robertson, 31, heading into the final year of his contract at Anfield, while Kostas Tsimikas was reduced to limited minutes in their top-flight-winning campaign.

Kerkez is currently on international duty with Dominik Szoboszlai - with a move for the defender intensifying.

The former AZ Alkmaar and AC Milan player posted a picture on social media with the eyes emoji as the caption in the latest thought-provoking post made by the Bournemouth man.

Szoboszlai was among those to like the post - as AZ Alkmaar's social media admin commented the same emoji and an egg timer posing a question as to whether it is about his future - or if a move is imminent.

Kerkez's future has come under the microscope after a series of cryptic posts on social media and he dropped his clearest hint after the Cherries' season concluded.

He wrote on social media: "38 games, 38 started, we finished the job and broke the record, thanks to the fans and everyone for support.

"Thanks to the gaffer for trusting me to start all 38 games and a special thanks to the one above for keeping me safe and healthy and, of course, nothing would be possible without my family, I don't know what will happen in next week, but Cherries family thank you!"

The 21-year-old only left AZ Alkmaar two years ago, after joining the club 12 months earlier following his spell with Serie A side AC Milan.

He established himself as an indispensable player for the Eredivisie club, earning his debut in his late teens.

After leaving the club, technical director Max Huiberts said: "Milos has developed incredibly well, in a short period of time, it is admirable to see how quickly he has made such great strides.

"Just like with Tijjani [Reijnders], this season was the year of his breakthrough.
