Liverpool has confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, but it's not yet clear what number he'll wear at Anfield.
Kerkez has joined the Reds in a deal worth around $54 million, becoming the club's fourth signing of the summer after Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci, and Florian Wirtz.
23, made famous on Anfield by Jamie Carragher, is arguably the most iconic number available to Kerkez.
5 at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, but that belongs to Ibrahima Konate at Liverpool.
Liverpool's decision to delay giving Kerkez a squad number, just as it's done with its other summer signings, is a smart move.
Players are expected to leave Slot's roster over the coming weeks.
"I'm really happy," said Kerkez on joining the Reds.
I'm just really, really happy and excited.
"After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season."
Kerkez added: "I just want to thank everyone for really showing me big love, even before it will be announced now.
"As everyone knows, (Hughes) brought me to Bournemouth and was (a) big part why I came to Bournemouth," said Kerkez
