Mohamed Salah has joked that Florian Wirtz will take the No.8 Liverpool shirt number off Dominik Szoboszlai after making his British-record move to Anfield.
Last week the German's move from Bayer Leverkusen was announced with the Reds striking a deal worth £116million.
However Salah has teased the potential for the 22-year-old to be given No 8, which would see Szoboszlai stripped of the number after two years at Liverpool.
An Instagram post has hinted that an announcement is incoming with Salah commenting that he is set for the No 8 whilst tagging his Hungarian team-mate.
Taking the number from Szoboszlai, who started 29 of the club's Premier League games last season, would be a blow and potentially hint at him falling down the pecking order.
It remains to be seen how Arne Slot will use Wirtz with Szoboszlai among those who could lose out.

The Hungarian has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and several months ago it was reported that Al-Hilal would offer big sums to tempt Liverpool into selling their midfielder.
However Szoboszlai has a long-term contract and has no interest in leaving the club.
