Mohamed Salah has been honoured by Liverpool fans after his new contract, with the Egyptian’s mural at Anfield Road receiving a classy touch.
After months of speculation, Salah recommitted to the club last month, signing a new two-year contract that will keep him at Liverpool for ten years.
In the eight years he has been at Anfield, the 32-year-old has defied the odds and broken several records, establishing himself as a truly elite player.
This season, he leads the charts for goals and assists in all competitions, and his goal contributions is largely responsible for Liverpool’s march to the Premier League title.
Salah’s desire to remain at Anfield has come at a huge financial cost to him.
According to reports, his new deal at Liverpool will see him earn around £400,000 a week.
That makes him the highest-paid player in the club’s history at the time.
However, despite the huge windfall, Liverpool’s offer dwarfs what Mohamed Salah could have been earning had he agreed to a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to reports, Salah was offered a £500m-a-week deal in Saudi Arabia, along with several other incentives.
Speaking to club media shortly after sealing the deal, the 32-year-old revealed just how much his family wants to remain on Merseyside.
Childhood sweetheart and wife Magi Sadeq, and especially 10-year-old daughter Makka, were influential in his decision:
“They feel at home.
It feels like home, so everyone was happy,” Salah said to Liverpoolfc.com.
There is no doubt that the club’s fans and the city of Liverpool hold Salah in high regard.
Their latest gesture has once again proved how much the 32-year-old means to the fans.
To celebrate the Egyptian’s new contract, his mural on Anfield Road has received a makeover ahead of the club’s Sunday game against Arsenal?
The new mural, which was done by Liverpool-based mural artists John Culshaw, features a picture of Salah with outstretched arms sporting a crown, which is a reference to Salah’s status and popular moniker ‘The Egyptian King.”
