Mohamed Salah has admitted he would have joined the Saudi Pro League were he unable to agree a new contract with Liverpool.
Salah's future was the subject of increased speculation for much of the season having entered the last 12 months of his deal with the Reds.
The Egyptian ultimately reaffirmed his Anfield commitment last month by putting pen to paper on a two-year contract that will extend his stay at the club to a decade.
But the 32-year-old has revealed he held talks with officials from Saudi Arabia over a proposed transfer to the Middle East that could yet be his next move.

"It was a good opportunity to me," said Salah, speaking to Egyptian TV channel On Sport.
"If I hadn't renewed with Liverpool it would have happened.
"My relations with SPL officials are very good, we talked a lot, and the negotiations were serious.
"The negotiations were long, I know the club's policy (with offering contracts to players in their 30s), we reached a middle ground that made us all happy."

Salah - who was the subject of a rejected £150million offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in September 2023 - also stated the clamour from Liverpool supporters for him to extend his stay with the Reds was an influence on a new contract being agreed.
"Part of the pressure on the club came from the fans," he said.
"I know from the start that they wanted me to continue, and they played their role in all of this."
Salah had an outstanding season in helping Liverpool to romp home to their 20th league championship by 10 points from leading also-ran Arsenal.
The forward scored 34 goals and provided 23 assists in 52 games in all competitions, claiming the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards and being named Footballer of the Year.
He is favourite to scoop the PFA Player of the Year accolade and a front-runner for the Ballon d'Or.
And Salah has reiterated the impact on his campaign by Liverpool boss Arne Slot, who replaced long-time manager Jurgen Klopp last summer.
"Every coach has a different style of play but I talk a lot with Slot and we understand each other very well," he said.

"Unlike Klopp, we sit a lot and talk, he was honest with me from the beginning and told me that he wants to get the best out of me and I told him that I want to be comfortable on the pitch."
