Mohamed Salah has revealed why winning the Premier League title this season is better than the one Liverpool won in 2020.
After months of hoping and dreaming, Liverpool finally secured the Premier League title on Sunday courtesy of a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
The Reds needed just a point to guarantee that they would be crowned champions of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
But despite falling behind early in the game, they produced one of their best performances of the season in front of an emotional Anfield crowd to secure another huge win over Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Salah was one of the players on the scoresheet, with the 32-year-old netting Liverpool’s fourth of the evening.
The Liverpool star posed for a selfie with the club’s fans in the stands after scoring, taking a phone from a supporter sitting in the stadium’s famous Kop end.
He then turned his back to the crowd and smiled for the camera before handing it back with chants of “Mo Salah” ringing in the air.
In netting on Sunday, he became the Premier League’s top-scoring foreign player after surpassing Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero.
The title Liverpool won on Sunday is the club’s second Premier League title, following their triumph in the 2019/20 season when they won the title with seven games to spare.
Salah is among eight current first-team players who were in the squad that won the title in 2020 under Jürgen Klopp.
But despite that being the club’s first league title in 30 years and the fact that Liverpool won the title by a wider margin and with more points total that season, the Egyptian says this season’s title triumph is more special.
“It is incredible to win this with our fans,” Salah told Sky Sports.
“This is 100% better than last time [in 2020], especially with the fans.
I wanted an experience we hadn’t had before.”
