The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year is among the Premier League’s most prestigious honours.
Chosen by the Professional Footballers’ Association – the trade union for players in England and Wales – it has been won by icons like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Alan Shearer, and Cristiano Ronaldo, with each year’s winner joining this elite list.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
The award, voted for by his fellow Premier League players, saw Salah finish ahead of contenders such as Declan Rice, Alexander Isak, Bruno Fernandes, and his club teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
Salah was instrumental in the Reds’ push for a second Premier League title, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists in 38 appearances.
His performances have now earned him a historic third PFA award, having previously won it in 2018 and 2022.
The Egyptian also reached another milestone recently, moving level with Andrew Cole in fourth place on the Premier League’s all-time scoring chart.
Salah netted his 187th league goal during Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over AFC Bournemouth on the opening day of the 2025-26 campaign.
Terry McDermott (1979-80), Sir Kenny Dalglish (1982-83), Ian Rush (1983-84), John Barnes (1987-88), Steven Gerrard (2005-06), Luis Suárez (2013-14), and Virgil van Dijk (2018-19) are the other Liverpool players to have been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, four Reds from the title-winning campaign have been included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year – Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister.
New signing Milos Kerkez has also earned a place in the team.
It marks a fifth PFA Team of the Year appearance for Dutchman Van Dijk, while Mohamed Salah has been included for the fourth time in his career.
Kerkez, Gravenberch, and Mac Allister are making their debuts in the Premier League Team of the Year.
